Native American Cooking and Recipes - Pemmican - Foodstuff - Recipes

Native American cooking and recipes address a wide spectrum. From the east, south, west and northern areas each with their individual indigenous meals sources. This short article addresses the Western Plains Indians, in particular Lakota (Astucieux).

A lot methods and techniques of cooking are not made use of right away other than on exceptional situations when a ceremony would require it. WasnaDried meat free of any seasonings, not even salt.Canpa (choke cherry patties) or raisinsKidney fat or lardSugar

Place dried meat in a pillowcase and pound with a hammer until incredibly great. Place thepounded meat into a bowl and combine in the choke cherries or raisins and sugar.

Warmth the kidney fat, suet or lard until melted. Calme until you can handle it with your fingers andnot burn on your own. Pour adequate fat or lard into the meat mixture to slightly moisten andmix perfectly. You want this mixture to adhere together only a little bit for simplicity of ingesting. Ingesting is completed with a spoon or pinched into the hand.
